IAPP AIGP - Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional

The credential for people who decide how an organization may use AI: which uses are allowed, who is accountable, what must be documented and when a system is switched off. It tests judgment about law, risk and process, not model building. For the engineering and safety side of the same topic see AI safety at ai.noblerworks.com.

How the exam thinks

The blueprint says IAPP questions mostly sit at the remember/understand and apply/analyze levels, and that the opening verb of each skill statement (identify, evaluate, implement, define) signals how hard the question is. In practice you are asked what a governance professional should do given a situation, and the best answer is usually the one that is documented, proportionate, assigns an owner and involves the right cross-functional group. Role matters: whether your organization is the provider or the deployer changes the obligation.

Study sequence

  1. Foundations (Domain I) - vocabulary, risks, principles, roles. Short, and everything else leans on it.
  2. Laws, standards and frameworks (Domain II) - the densest content; start it early and revisit.
  3. Governing development (Domain III) - the life cycle from use case to release.
  4. Governing deployment and use (Domain IV) - buying, configuring, monitoring and switching off.

Schedule in the practice plan.
